Tea or Leather?
Responsible Innovation Projects
Kombucha is a tea made from a mushroom called kombucha. Kombucha, a fermented tea made up of bacteria and yeasts, consists of a tea fungus called Kombucha. This mushroom, which is the most important ingredient of tea, is called “Kombucha”. It is a tea that started to be made in East Asia many years ago. Tea is formed by the growth of fungi in the tea. The fungus has a gelatinous membrane. It has a flat shape. The fungus reproduces in the sweetened tea and spreads over the surface of the tea over time. This fungus is the most important ingredient of Kombucha, a fermented tea consisting of bacteria and yeasts. This fungus, which has the appearance of a cottony disc, lives in a nutritious solution of tea and sugar, and constantly reproduces in this liquid. Among the benefits of kombucha tea, it provides protection against cancer, acts as a detox for the body, and is good for bone pain. In this study, vegan leather study was made from Kombucha mushroom. It is aimed to obtain new surface works with the weaving technique by cutting the leather into certain strips. The tea obtained from the kombucha mushroom can be consumed during the leather formation process. In this way, completely environmentally friendly vegan leather is obtained while drinking an organic tea. In this project, it is aimed to obtain vegan leathers in different colors with various tea varieties. Thanks to this aim, completely environmentally friendly and recyclable leathers and new surface designs are targeted.
