Pininfarina Architecture chose to achieve this reclaim gesture by using recycled plastic from wrecked car bumpers to create a site specific and organic formed bench. In a bond between nature and technology, “Diatreme” was conceived as wanting to surround its tree, by accommodating its shape and by replicating its bark texture, by doing a 3D scan and then designing and printing both the halo shaped bench structure and its anchoring.
