FAST LIFE
Educational Social Media
The idea of the project originated from observing everyday life: at the end of the day it is common to come back home and pour on the table all the receipts accumulated throughout the day in the wallet, bags and pockets. This was my starting point. To this was added the element of observation: I realized that on the ground, nearby supermarkets, cafés, or stores, there are always countless receipts. The observation of what was around us, led me to think about how the receipt, even if important for fiscal matters to verify a purchase, has a short life cycle. After the emission of the receipt, it goes from the seller’s hand to the buyer’s hand, and really quickly it gets thrown away. In the best cases, it gets thrown away in the bin, but in the worst case it is thrown away on the ground. After having set this starting point, the environmental issues was then linked to the topic of fast fashion clothing, which is an industry that in recent years has increased its purchases of the customer. To create the connection between these two, I realized by hand two skirts made out of receipts. For the production of both skirts, more than a hundred receipts were used and they were collected throughout standard weekly purchases of a family of four, such as groceries, household products, electronics, clothing and medicines. Later on, I put together all the receipts and created the pattern. With the help of a template, the skirt was made and I made a story board of how I intended to realize the project. After having booked the room to shoot the video, the TikToker Alessia Morelli (https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMLenCD9q/) was invited to take part in the project to shoot the video. Afterwards, with the support of Premiere and After Effect, I edited the video by adding color correction and copy. Regarding the sound, I looked for a sound that marked the stage times. Moreover, the sound of crumpled paper was added to give the idea of all the torn and crumpled up receipts. In conclusion: the original version is in English but it has also been adapted to Italian in order to reach as many users as possible. As for the uploading of the video, Youtube does not give the possibility to upload the original video vertically in 4k. So, It was then inserted with the black side bands. In the “Other Link if Necessary” section, the two videos are inserted in the high quality versions.
