SUPERlego
Urban and Public Design
The idea of the project SUPERLego comes from the will to couple the experimentation on polymers additive manufacturing and its applications in urban/landscape design. Also, one of the basic principles was exploring the flexible geometrical shapes that could form different shapes and therefore afford different functions with the same basic modules, in other words, discrete architecture was one of the main focus of the project. In a more concrete way, the project is based on developing a module of a lego which is freed from its classical shape to achieve more ways of assembling that could be therefore used to create theoretically any kind of urban furniture with different proportions. The submitted materials had as a final result the shape of a bench, tables … but the different combinations shown are still open to interpretation which makes them an inclusive design that makes the user develop the process of the assembling themselves. Furthermore, since the basic module is the same and gets repeated , the production process is faster, cheaper and doesn’t require a lot of manpower to achieve.
