Sustainable Future Mannequins for fashion
Innovative and Tech Projects
We are a producer of mannequins; after almost 30 years of experience, we were no longer happy with the current production process. Mannequins are made of polyester which is a very dusty production process. First of all, not good for our people making it, but also there is no way to recycle it. Thousands of mannequins that are dropped or damaged by standing in the shop are burned or buried. We did not want to contribute to this any more. We no longer felt comfortable with this production process and there is no way to recycle. The last 7 years, we have been looking for alternative materials that still had to meet our characteristics of a mannequin, namely a beautiful design, easy to work with and the perfect fit. Furthermore, we have to make use of an existing recycling process, because our quantities are too small to develop our own recycling process on a global scale. It was a long search with universities, spin-offs, research labs, engineers,… But after 7 years, we have worked with engineers towards a very clean production process (blow molding) in which our mannequin only has advantages. The mannequin is very light (min. 3 kg lighter than an average mannequin), can’t break so it can be dropped in the shop, has the perfect fit, we use innovative systems so it can be easily taken apart for dressing and finally it is 100% recyclable on a worldwide basis. For us, the mannequin of the future. Furthermore, the collection is very simple, but we can easily adapt it to keep up with the latest trends, such as the head is detachable, so that you can easily put on a new head after x-number of years. And different finishing possibilities. Our mannequin is made of Bonplast, family of PC. We can use up to 50% recycled material to still meet our requirements for finish and design.
